Concisely written info about each monument, very informative. Each monument is numbered in the book and listed by state; and the book includes a map showing their locations. The one thing I didn't like was that I thought it would be helpful to be able to look up a monument info by it's number (from the map) but there's no cross reference of which page that number monument is on, or additional list showing the page number by monument number. I may create my own cross reference spreadsheet before I travel to Gettysburg again. Unfortunately, my family found this book after our most recent trip to Gettysburg. This guide has the story of each monument, when it was placed, and often interesting tidbits about it's meaning or style. It also gave us new places to look for when we return. The battlefield encompasses all of Adams County, and it's difficult to see everything. This guide (in tandem with You-Tube videos from the 150th reenactments this week which are interesting) provide everything you need to fully experience a pivotal moment in history. Lots of great photos too. This is also one of the few travel guides that's actually entertaining to sit and just read like a book.
